Drinking lemon water is often linked to a wide range of health benefits. Here are our findings.
Lemons are low in calories but high in flavour. They are packed with Vitamin C. Vitamin C is sometimes claimed to support the immune system. One study found that although vitamin C did not stop healthy people from catching colds, it may shorten the length of symptoms, and halved the common cold risk in those exposed to short periods of extreme physical stress, such as marathon runners.
Lemons also full of protective antioxidants called flavanoids. There is evidence to show that lemons by containing Vitamin C and flavonoids help the body to produce collagen, which contributes to the well-being of the skin.
We are advised to drink 6-8 glasses of liquid, preferably water, per day. Some people find this difficult, so adding the tang of lemon may make this more appealing. Drinking the correct amount water will benefit your health.
